About the work
Every unit is inspected individually, including the outer shoe box, the inner shoe box, the paper packaging around the shoes, the paper stuffing inside, the outer parts of the shoes, the insole and inner lining and any musty or mouldy odour.
Products and methods are chosen for each material. Leather, suede, textile, mesh, synthetics and printed cartonboard each need a different approach, and we choose the treatment to avoid damaging the goods.
Where a container shows clear signs of mould, we recommend it. Contamination is uneven, units that look clean can still carry it, and leaving them untreated makes recurrence more likely once the stock is repacked.
Only where a box cannot be satisfactorily remediated.
They are recorded, sealed and labelled, and shown on the completion statement so your figures reconcile. Where a cosmetic mark cannot be removed without risk to the material, we refer the unit to you rather than release it as retail-ready.
Yes we can, please contact us for a quotation.
Mould and results
Why footwear goes mouldy in transitMould spores are naturally present in the air, so no treatment can make goods permanently immune. We remove mould at source and dry goods fully before repacking, which is what most reduces the risk, and we give you storage guidance. Once goods leave our facility, storage conditions are outside our control, so we do not guarantee against recurrence.
No. Our inspection is a visual and odour assessment by trained operatives under controlled conditions. We do not carry out laboratory testing, air sampling or swabbing, and we do not identify mould species or give an opinion on health risk.
We do not give an opinion on the cause of mould in a particular consignment, or on where in the supply chain it happened. We can explain the common reasons mould develops in transit in general terms.
Timescales, pricing and logistics
It depends on volume and condition. As a guide, a consignment of 3,000 units could take 2 to 3 weeks.
Per unit. A mould confirmation report is included in the unit price.
